blue skies

shadow of my head on the left
I'm part of a group of women who meet once a week to work our way through The Artist's Way, a book that basically has  12 lessons for writers who are struggling through writers' block.   Or, at least, trying to boost creativity.

We are part of a group that got together a few months ago to do paper collage together.  And we're also a core of Friends of The Library for our local county. We are committed to meeting weekly for 13 weeks to work our way through the chapters.

It's quite a literary and artistic group.  Some have written novels, one makes a living writing articles for varied publications, one writes her own sermons, one has taught literature and writing professionally, one was recently hired by a local arts council, there are painters, poets, gardeners, quilters, .... a wealth of artistic talent.

I am incredibly happy to be a part of this group.

One of the "tasks" of The Artist's Way is to write morning pages; to write stream of consciousness rambling thoughts for about 30 mins or 3 pages every day.  Well, there's no way I am getting out of bed a half hour earlier -- that's just not going to ever happen.  But I've been doing a pretty good job of coming home from work, doing a few chores, settling down and then writing my pages.   It's very different.   We're not to re-read them or share them.  It's like a writing meditation.

I'm all excited that doing this is going to change my life.  I can't wait for that!

I brought my camera with me on purpose last week thinking I'd be all inspired artistically and would skulk around and take some photos.  It's a pretty cool old building.  But it was the bright blue sky that attracted me.  My friend Sherry was  a great inspiration for me, but I didn't want to make her have to skulk around with me.

Since that day it's rained steadily around here.  No more photos.  Tons of rambling words in a marbled notebook.
