end of January

It's the end of January. Always so surprising that the winter holidays are over, the new year has begun ... time is flying and part of me is worried about how quickly.

Time goes fast & I don't want it to, I don't want to run out. Isn't that funny? At work so many people greet by saying "It's Wednesday, half way there." or "TGIF" or "One more day" -- it irritates me. I fight to encourage myself to appreciate each day & each minute. I like my job and although it's hard & I'd rather be home :) it's good being there on any day. I think it's sad that so many people I work with dwell on living for the weekend. Even my principal talks about how we'll hear his tires peeling out of the parking lot at the first possibility.

Honestly -- it can be so demoralizing to work around that place.

What was my point? Oh yeah ... it's the end of January and time is flying. It's time for me to start marathon assessments again to document which children have learned enough to meet the state & distict's 2nd trimester demands. All our testing is done 1 on 1 so the hardest part is for me to find something for the other 19 children to do while I sit with one.

Next week I'm out of the classroom for training for four days. Mixed emotions about that.

The most immediate emotion is that I do not have one single thing I have to do for work tomorrow ~ since my sub plans are excellent and I won't even be there ~~ hence I sit here and attempt to catch up with some posts.
