Now I'm really scared.


A little guy was almost to the top of the monkey bars as I walked past during recess this morning.
"I'm scared now." he said.
I stopped, in case I needed to catch. "Yeah, but you sure were brave going up."
"No. I'm scared now."
Not one to give up (either) I repeated, "But you were brave to go so high up."
"No. I'm scared now."
He was down and he took off, running on solid ground.

I feel a need to convince the kids that they have to be scared prior to being brave. They don't believe me. "Scared" and "Brave" are direct opposites to them and will forever remain so.
